I had to install RAS on a W2008 server.

Problem is that the service did not want to start.
After adding the NPS Role and selecting only RAS the service crashed.

The Application log shows
Event 1000
Faulting application svchost.exe_RemoteAccess, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919291, faulting module mprdim.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791ad32, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000000000000e352, process id 0x554, application start time 0x01c97c749aa692a0.

I realized after a while it had something to do with IPV6 but even adding IPV6 addresses which I’m not using in that environment it still crashed.
Reinstall did not help.

What did the trick was removing the following Registry key with all values.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RemoteAccess\RouterManagers\Ipv6

After that it all worked perfect.
